Walking around the beauty counters at the department store I have to wonder how much of the information we are being fed about skincare is actual fact, and how much of it is money-making hype. We are told to cleanse, tone and moisturize – that means that we need to buy 3 products, none of which could be called cheap and many of which could fund a small deposit on a house! Looking back to the days of our grandmothers, and even our mothers, they did perfectly fine with old fashioned soap and water, and witch-hazel if a little “extra” help was required.
I think women today are being brain washed into thinking that our skin needs these chemicals, when in fact, what it needs is good nutrition! If you eat and sleep right, your skin will reflect that. Increase your drinking water intake and you’ll see just as big an improvement as the top skincare manufacturers tell you their product will achieve. It’s not a good shopping life.
I’m occasionally tempted by a pretty little pot of cream, but it’s the packaging that lures me into the purchase. I’m sure that my diet and drinking water intake do far more good than a potion or lotion ever could!
