A tummy tuck surgery removes excess fat and skin and also restores those muscles that are weakened or separated. These are usually caused by pregnancy, aging, significant fluctuations in weight, heredity and past surgeries. The operation by itself lasts between 2 to 5 hours while recovery is usually within 2 to 4 weeks depending upon the individual. Strenuous activities can be undertaken only after 4 to 6 weeks and fading and flattening of the scars require about 3 months to 2 years.
There may be side effects like temporary pain, bruising, swelling, soreness or numbness and may last up to several weeks or several months. It is however, technically perfect and long lasting. Yet there is a note of caution here. After a tummy tuck surgery a person should be wary of any major fluctuations in body weight. This could negate any benefits experienced after the surgery.

Factors like blood clots, infections, poor healing and skin loss could become aggravated depending upon the individual. A poor post surgical performance can even lead to a second surgery.
